Hi! My name is Kallie and I’m the Social Media Marketing Assistant here at KraveBeauty. I love talking about all things skincare so I’m thrilled to share my skin journey and how I like to #PressReset, with y’all :)

My Skin Journey | Let’s start from the beginning

Oh man, where do I even begin? I started using skincare products at such a young age I can’t even fully remember (probably around 9 or 10) because I would read about them in teen magazines. My skin was totally fine at the time, but I used harsh products that ended up causing a lot of damage. As I got older, I started getting really bad acne that wouldn’t go away no matter what products I used. Everything seemed to just make my condition worse—it was so frustrating! Feeling that powerless turned me quite jaded against skincare companies, and made me practically give up a skincare routine all together for a few years. It wasn’t until a couple of months ago that I discovered some online skincare communities that really changed my perspective. I spent hours and hours learning about different ingredients, myths, and brands in the skincare world. It was honestly so empowering! Being informed made me much more confident in what I was buying, and I started using products that work with my skin instead of against it. Of course, it’s a lot of trial and error, because everyone’s mileage varies from product to product, but I’m finally starting to see positive changes in my skin. I love my skincare so much now that I even keep a detailed spreadsheet that tracks daily changes! HMU if you want the template ~ it’s a great way to tune into your skin.

Skincare Products I Can’t Live Without

My hydrating toner! Hada Labo’s Gokujyun Lotion literally gave me an at-home facelift! It’s plumped up my skin so much my laugh lines and saggy cheeks have disappeared. My skin is no longer dry and flaky (a huge problem for me during the winter) and also doesn’t feel tight when I wake up in the morning.

KraveBeauty’s Great Barrier Relief! This serum has been such a holy grail for my acne scars and uneven skin tone. It really calms down my skin.

And of course, sunscreen! I always make sure to use broad-spectrum protection every morning. (KraveBeauty’s The Beet Shield and Purito’s Centella Unscented Sunscreen are my two faves!)

My Current Skincare Routine

Morning:

My morning routine varies depending on how my skin is feeling. Some days I do all these steps, some days it’s just sunscreen and go!

Cleanse: Rinse with lukewarm water

Toner: Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion

  • Only if my skin needs some extra hydration!

Moisturizer: Stratia Liquid Gold Moisturizer

  • A great moisturizer that helps restore and protect your skin barrier

Sunscreen: KraveBeauty The Beet Shield

  • This is the one step I consider absolutely necessary! I also try to reapply this in the afternoon

Night:

Cleansing Oil: Banila Co. Clean It Zero Purifying

  • I love double cleansing, it helps get all my makeup and sunscreen off, and this cleansing balm doesn’t break me out!

Second Cleanser: KraveBeauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser  OR CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser

  • I switch between these two products depending on how my skin is feeling. If it’s dry, I’ll use CeraVe, if it’s on the oilier side, I’ll use the Matcha Cleanser.

Exfoliate: KraveBeauty Kale-Lalu-yAHA & CosRx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid

  • I use these only 2-3 times a week, as needed! These have really improved my skin’s texture and helped unclog my pores.

Toner: Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion

Serum: KraveBeauty Great Barrier Relief

Moisturizer: Stratia Liquid Gold Moisturizer

  • This moisturizer has been incredible since I first used it, but it works even better when paired with Great Barrier Relief! They both have done so much in restoring my skin barrier.

Eye Cream: Benton Fermentation Eye Cream

What #PressReset Means to Me

#PressReset for me is all about intentionality. I try to make informed and mindful choices when I do my routine or when I’m buying new products. I think patience is also key when it comes to #PressReset. I used to be addicted to products that had instant gratification, like harsh acne treatments or physical exfoliants, but now I realize my skin appreciates gentle products that help my skin over time so much more. The phrase “slow and steady wins the race” feels very applicable!

How I #PressReset Beyond Beauty

Living in NYC, there are lots of overwhelming distractions that can leave me feeling stressed, so #PressReset is the moment I decide to take a deep breath and ground myself. Sometimes all I need is a few minutes of counted breathing, while other times it’s a night full of self-care (like lighting some candles, taking a long bath) to really chill out. I also think it’s important to spend time in nature, so I try to go for walks in the park and get out of the city to go hiking as much as possible. Being outside really calms my mind. The most simple way I #PressReset is starting my morning off with a cup of green tea with lemon, make a to-do list, and repeat some positive affirmations. Doing this helps me start each day with a positive and mindful headspace!

What I’ve Been Loving

Makeup
I’ve been obsessed with my Kaja Eyeliner Stamp! It makes doing my eyeliner soooo much easier when I’m in a bit of a rush.

Books/Music
BTS’s new album has been on repeat since it came out. Also been listening to a lot of Rosalia, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Mamamoo, and TxT! I’m currently rereading a collection of Flannery O’Connor’s short stories right now that I love. She’s one of my favorite writers.

Places
This might sound kinda silly, but I’ve been really appreciating my roof lately! Since the weather’s been getting nicer, I’ve been going up most days to meditate, listen to music, or just bask in the sun.

Omg I identify with your story so much 😿 I remember that I always used my bangs to cover my forehead so they wouldn’t see my pimples, that make me feel so uncomfortable around people, that’s when i started my addiction taking care of the
skin and using all products that they put in front of me, I learned and I continue learning from others… that is reason to open my account in ig, time ago I had not done it for fear of showing myself to the world being so imperfect in a world where everything seems perfect, I hope someday to visit my account. btw I just order the serum can’t wait to try it.. oh my ig lov3.at.first.sight
