About this position:

As KraveBeauty’s Director of Finance, you will oversee the financial operations of our rapidly growing business and be a meaningful member of the company’s leadership team. Initially, you will be a team of one (supported by an outsourced CPA), so you must be a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves type of person and should enjoy a fast-paced, start-up environment. Your role will be crucial to ensure that the company has the proper financial controls and reporting procedures and systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength, efficiency and sustainability. The position reports to the CEO and works closely with the CEO, Director of Global Operations and Senior Manager of Marketing.

Build the company’s finance function to ensure we're developing a scalable approach to long-term planning, strategic corporate finance, tax compliance, financial operations, international expansion, and more.


Your role at KraveBeauty

1. FP&A: Analysis, Budgeting, Forecasting and Reporting

  • Serve as a strategic financial business partner to the CEO and the leadership team
  • Prepare timely and appropriately informative reports on financial performance on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Provide strategic insights and conclusions based on financial analysis, working cross-functionally with the leads of business units in the US & Korea team
  • Develop and track cross-company efforts to improve gross margin and cash flow
  • Create and maintain key performance metrics and dashboards to ensure the optimal operation of the business. Identify initiatives for improvements that can positively impact the financial outlook of the company, including developing, tracking, and executing business initiatives with the company’s leadership team
  • Coordinate the analysis and reporting of actual results with outside accounting firm and be responsible for the preparation of budgets and forecasts for the company
  • Evaluate the revenue, profit, cash flow and value creation potential of new product introductions or business decisions


2. Accounting and Control

  • Establish and/or maintain all corporate accounting policies and procedures
  • Maintain the books of the company in accordance with generally accepted accounting policies
  • Manage the financial controls related to revenue, costs of goods sold and operating expenses
  • Manage the financial aspects of the company’s Korean and US based operations
  • Maintain direct relationships with the company’s bank and lender
  • Ensure that federal, state and local tax reporting compliance requirements and other filings are met

Technical but important stuff

  • Preferred: CPA qualifications and public accounting experience
  • Preferred: Proficiency in Korean
  • Strong business sense; able to utilize financial data to influence company’s decision-making
  • Experience in a multiple stages of growth of a company 
  • Experience in a fast-paced start-up environment building the finance function and scaling and optimizing for growth
  • Experience in setting a company up for accrual based accounting
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent technical discipline
  • At least 5 years of financial management experience
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, operational risk assessment and financial reporting
  • Experience in developing and presenting business plans, models, and financial forecasts to senior management and the executive team.
