Out of office: In-Flight Skincare Tips

Welcome on board to your in-flight skincare routine! Traveling can leave us feeling exhausted and stressed, and you bet our skin will feel it too. Here are some in-flight travel tips to keep your skin glowing in your insta photos:

TIP #1 - STICK WITH WHAT YOU KNOW

Bring what your skin already knows! Traveling can be extremely draining so it’s important not to introduce new products that your skin may not react well to. Grab some travel containers and pack them with products that your skin already loves and continue to nourish it as you explore new cities!

TIP #2 - PRE-SOAKED CLEANSING PADS

Makeup wipes can be filled with tons of preservatives to prevent molding, so the best thing to do is make your own! Fill a ziploc bag with your favorite cotton pads and soak them with the cleansing water you are currently using. This is a great way to save on luggage space and your skin will love the fresh clean feeling before you start your normal routine.

TIP #3 - DRINKING WATER IS YOUR BEST FRIEND

Rumor has it that the water in airplane bathrooms isn’t exactly the cleanest 😣 So if you plan on washing your face during the flight, be sure to use drinking water! The easiest way to not make a mess is to pour the water directly onto a dry cotton pad. Gently wipe off the residue of the cleansing water and excess makeup that is left behind, and voila, clean skin!

Extra tip: drink extra water to keep your body and skin hydrated throughout the flight!

TIP #4 - DIY SKIN MASK

Airplane air is very dehydrating to our skin so we must hydrate starting at the deepest level. The best way to do this is to soak a few cotton pads with your favorite hydrating toner or essence (see video below, @1:39) and leave them on as a DIY skin mask. Just make sure your products don’t include any drying ingredients.

TIP #5 - KEEP IT SIMPLE BUT OCCLUSIVE

In addition to your normal skincare routine, add a facial oil! Facial oils are great in making sure that your skin does not dry out and lose water due to the constant dry air circulating in the cabin.

TIP #6 - SLEEPING MASK > SHEET MASK

We’ve all seen the photos of people sheet masking on flights, but often times sheet masks don’t give enough moisture to last longer than 20 minutes. Instead, try applying a thick layer of a sleeping mask and feel your skin soaking up the moisture. Sleeping masks work much better as a barrier to keeping your skin hydrated, nourished, protected, and uncompromised to water loss in the air.

TIP #7 - LIP BALM!

An occlusive lip balm or ointment can be a game changer on flights. Use it on the driest areas of your face such as your lips and under eye areas and say hello to a fresh dewy face when you land.

At the end of your flight, be sure to wipe away the sleeping mask with an essence. Typically there is no need to do your skincare routine again because your skin should be quite moisturized, but if you want that extra boost, feel free to do so!

You’re all finished! Please have your seats upright, tray tables locked away, and prepare for new adventures.
